Kim Seviour
Lead Vocals
Kim Seviour (aka Elkie) was born in March 1985 in Bath, UK and was exposed to music from then onwards. There was a highly versatile range of music played whilst she was growing up ranging from early memories of Abba, The Beatles, Bobby Vinton, Enya, John Denver, The Animals, Rik Wakeman, Alice Cooper, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Yes, Marillion, Ozzy & Black Sabbath, Nirvana, classical and traditional folk music, and Contemporary Pop amongst many others. Nowadays she listens to Our Lady Peace, Muse, Placebo, Snow Patrol, Seth Lakeman, The Fray, and The Feeling and likes to keep up to date with emerging music.
She started writing songs from the age of around 10 years old to perform to family and friends.
She has dabbled in numerous instruments throughout the years including bass, guitar, drums, cornet, keys and various traditional folk instruments. It was with singing that she really found her forte, performing various school concerts and choirs. She also participated in shows, the most fun being Rizzo in a Grease production.
From the ages of 16 – 19, she fronted a local band, performing a mixture of covers and original material, including Guns and Roses, Lenny Kravitz, Santana, Metallica and Feeder.
Kim started competing in local talent competitions from the age of 17, coming 2nd in the first attempt to then go on and win the following year. This gave her the opportunity to sing at various fairs and charity events around the county. In 2003 she gained third place in a National Karaoke competition, being judged through four stages. At the same time she performed in local pub gigs, playing three hour sets on Friday and Saturday nights and getting herself known around the local scene. She doesn’t mind in what capacity she performs, as long as has the opportunity to sing.
Her biggest gig to date was in 2004 at a Virgin Staff party in front of 3-4,000 people at Richard Branson’s residential grounds in Kidlington, Oxfordshire. Something she anticipates bettering!
Having moved to London in October 2006, she set about finding another band to perform, record and write with. She advertised herself online and Touchstone invited her to audition. The rest they say is history, and she looks forward to writing the future with this fantastic bunch of blokes…
